Steve Jobs announced the iPhone along with AppleTV (replacing iTV) and partnership with Paramount Pictures (bigger movie catalog on iTunes Store) at the Macworld 2007. The iPhone grabs all the attention as Apple claims that it is reinventing the phone as iPod has reinvented music.
This ends long run rumor on iPhone on Mac-sites and tech blogs. The product is launched today in time for FCC approval. It'll shipped in the US in June 2007, Q4 2007 in Europe, and 2008 for us in Asia.
You know that LOTS of money went into iPhone when Apple is no longer known as Apple Computer Inc., but Apple Inc. starting today. Over 200 patents are filed for iPhone!
I can't wait for iPhone to replace my Sony Ericsson K700i and hoping that Apple won't lock it with any of the network carriers here in Malaysia. Despite anticipation that this phone will not be locked to any of the network carrier in the US; the iPhone is locked to Cingular on 2-yr contract USD499 (4GB) and USD599 (8GB).
I suppose the lack of 3G might turn off business users as Apple settles for EDGE and Wi-Fi on connectivity.
Here are the iPhone specifications; thanks to Engadget live Macworld 2007 reporting (I've been refreshing Ctrl+F5 my Firefox since 1am today!). Now, I can't wait for unit review of iPhone when it's shipped in June!
