Snow Patrol, a five-piece alternative rock band from Northern Ireland came to fame after its single Chasing Cars was used by Grey's Anatomy as soundtrack to the second season finale episode, Losing My Religion. The song climbed to top five on numbers of chart worldwide and it was mostly downloaded single on iTunes Music Store the day after the release of the show second season DVDs.
Besides appearing in the band's fourth album Eyes Open you can also find it on Grey's Anatomy, Vol. 2 [Sountrack]. Another similar success story is The Fray's 'How To Save My Life'.
If there's ever a song that could capture the mood and emotions of the actors on a TV show, I think Chasing Cars does that successfully. Watch the video embedded here from YouTube; Chasing Cars (Grey's Anatomy version, which was edited to include clips from the show) and you'll understand what I mean.
It was really an emotional moment to watch my favorite character, Izzie Stevens who look stunning in the pink gown (Katherine Hiegl) had to experience the death of her lover who had just proposed her.
I simply love the music and lyrics of
this song. The music begins with progressing guitar sound in the beginning,
explodes at the chorus with rich sound of guitar, drums, and keyboard to stir your
emotion. It winds down in the end by repeating the early tunes.
The lyrics are poetic and Gary Lightbody delicate vocal made it all beautiful. I've played so many times on my iPod and I'm not exaggerating to call it the most beautiful pop love song of 2006!
you gotta love their 'run' as well =)
although I thought their chasing cars video was a missed opportunity..was really a bore.
if you love the abovementioned songs, you should dig O.C.'s soundtrack as well - tons of good songs.
