At the conclusion of the LOTR third instalment, I finally made sense to my belief that Tolkien who wrote the books during WWII was based his writings of Lord of The Rings based on the war he was going through. If John Maynard Keynes wrote his General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money reflecting problems and solutions for economics based on his real experiences during the Great Depression, and made an important landmark in economics, J.R.R. Tolkien is the literature counterpart for his contribution in the field of literature, storytelling, and characters development has surpassed any other writers' fame and popularity in this century; for his masterpiece has now touched so many hearts; young, adults, and elderly.
And last night at the premier of the Return of The King, I have for the first time feel the excitement of going to a movie like I have never had before. Imagine the character Salvatore De Vita in Cinema Paradiso in his early discovery of films. That was exactly the same sentiment I felt that with a friend of mine, that had us busy following the promotional sponsors' personnel who dressed up in Gandalf, Aragorn, Arwen, and Nazgul costumes and shooting some pictures. And looking at those pictures, I do feel like a hobbit as these guys were so tall!
So, following the parade to the hall with Gandalf, Aragorn, Arwen, and Nazgul, we rushed into our hall and ten minutes later, the movie started, without ADS!!!
The movie began with the story of how did the ring fell into the hand of Smeagol. Form there on, the movie developed into two main plots, the journey of Frodo, Sam, and Gollum to Mordor and the battle for the Middle Earth as well as the diversion war that was planned to defeat Sauron. Both plots were as enjoyable and thrillling. I will let you watch all the excitements in the movie, but suffice writing here that I wish there were more to the movie. I wish it was 4 hours or 5 maybe?
Would love to hear what you think about the movie. I give it 5 stars! And I believe that it is the strong contender for Film of The Year as well as Best Director. Hopefully in the actor nominees goes to Viggo Mortensen. Watch out for this actor in forthcoming years. At least we now have another great talent besides Russell Crowe!
Watched ROTK on the 17th Dec, the first show at 9:00 in the morning. My sympathy goes out to all the braindead and intellectually challenged twits who did'nt enjoy the film. IT'S AN ABSALOUTE MASTERPIECE and with beef like Viggo Mortenson and Orlando Bloom you just can't go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!
I definetly agree that Viggo should get an Oscar for his performance!!!!
How delicious!!!!!!!!!!

Watched it today, 11 a.m. show. It was worth the one-hour queue to get the ticket two days earlier. I'd watch it all over again. I'd do anything to have a friend like Sam, like Pak Adib mentioned. And I'd do anything to have an unruffled appearance and flawless complexion throughout the movie like Legolas. Heh.
Anyway, you have it right to watch it as a pre-birthday celebration. It is, for me, and boy it's a great way to pre-celebrate! Go ROTK!

hello haxa.. that was a great pic. anywho, i watched RoTK @ One Utama last night (it was 8 of us, the whole second last row), the 11 pm show. despite the fact that i had only 3 hours sleep the day before and a full day of helping at my best friend's engagement kenduri, i was AWAKE! so i sigh, laugh, CRIED (yeah, the whole streaming tears and sobbing), and it is really sad coz this is what we have come to. an ending to a 3 years wait. this is it.. THE movie.. The ONE.. but it will not be this great without the pre'decessors.. FoTR and TTT. i'm agreeing with my uncles' comment whom watch the movie a day before me. for those who haven't read THE book, you'd be dazed and confused a lil bit towards the ending (sorry.. this is not a spoiler). the fighting sequel is totally awesome. the whole cinematography was breathtaking. ( and yes, aragorn, legolas, faramir and eomer are really HOT!!)
so, for those who went watching RoTK and feel that the movie sucks, you have my condolence. for you have not understand the lord of the ring at all. such a pity.
my money on the lord of the rings, and a personal 5 stars to top it up!
p/s: i'm watching again the movie next week.. yeah!!!

Hi haxa, .. while you were at KLCC last night, a bunch of us went to One Utama to get our fill of Tolkien's and Jackson's third creative installment. We were greeted by a couple of hobbits .. maybe of a rare breed coz they were pretty tall .. and an elf with blond hair - probably Legolas .. didn't quite see the resemblance there.
Even though due to some glitches the movie started late, I think most of the people around including us were pretty cool about it - ain't gonna let anything spoil our fun ... and then it began!
Having read the book, I was rather curious to see how they enact the war scenes ..I think they were impressive! Jackson did perfect justice to the book .. I'm sure Tolkien would have agreed, had he been around to watch the movie. It was the best movie I have watched in a long time .. definitely the best of the trilogy as well. All 200 minutes of action, emotion and good looking men .. Aragorn (ooohs!!) and Legolas (aaahs!!)
By the way .. apart from Viggo Mortensen ... I think Sean Astin (Sam Gamgee) was pretty good as well .. they should include him in the list of nominees for best acting.
My ratings - ***** 5 stars
